Memorial Health System’s Women’s Pavilion cares for women requiring gynecology surgery, breast surgery and high-risk pregnancy care.
Getting you back to your life—quickly
Whether it’s breast reconstruction or a hysterectomy, our patients—like you—want to have the surgery and get back to their lives. We understand that and the care we provide is focused on doing just that.
We accomplish this in a variety of ways, but chief among them is our use of care pathways. These pathways are evidence-based protocols that we know speed recovery. For instance, we have learned that surgery patients recover more quickly if they get up and walk around within six hours after surgery. This is just one of the things that have decreased the length of stay for surgical patients over the last ten years.

High-risk Pregnancy
As a high-risk pregnancy patient, you may have an extended stay. We want to make you feel at home while caring for you and your precious child.

Specialized Training and Personal Care
Each nurse in the Women’s Pavilion has an average of five patients. Given the small staff-to-patient ratio, our nurses develop close relationships with you, especially if you are a high-risk pregnancy patient whose hospital stays are generally longer. And because our nurses often care for both mother and baby after the birth, all of our nurses receive fetal monitoring training.

Small things make a big difference
The Women’s Pavilion always scores high in patient satisfaction surveys. We are proud of our scores and continually seek ways to make our patient’s time with us a good experience. Some of our programs have included:
- craft supplies are available for patients use
- weekly patient “chat sessions”
- massages are available for an additional fee
- DVD players are available in each patient room
- there is a family gathering area on the unit where patients can join with their family’s to visit, play games or watch TV

A lasting impact
Some of our patients come back to the Women’s Pavilion following their stays to volunteer. But perhaps the best testimony for our care comes from a mother of three whose pregnancies were all high risk. Her experience inspired her to become a nurse. Where does she want to work? The Women’s Pavilion. |
