The birth centers at Memorial Hospital are available in two locations - Memorial Hospital Central (near downtown Colorado Springs) and Memorial Hospital North (northern Colorado Springs). Both facilities feature private birth suites with modern and comfortable accommodations and the comprehensive services, technologies and clinical specialists to evaluate and treat mother and child for:
• pregnancy and childbirth, normal • pregnancy and childbirth, high-risk due to prematurity, low birth weight, intrauterine growth retardation, congenital malformations (birth defects), sepsis or birth asphyxias
Our birth care services include:
• labor, delivery, recovery care • postpartum care • high-risk pregnancy care (maternal-fetal medicine) • cesarean section surgery • prematurity prevention • genetic counseling • amniocentesis and chronic villus sampling (CVS) • antepartum fetal assessment • women's care (Women's Pavilion) • lactation instruction
Mothers experiencing high-risk pregnancies (due to maternal diabetes or heart disease, uterine abnormalities, a history of premature births or other previous pregnancy complications such as pre-eclampsia) are monitored by our maternal-fetal medicine specialists and may spend time in the Women's Pavilion before delivery.
For babies requiring special care after birth (high-risk newborns and babies with complex/critical illness), our Memorial Hospital for Children offers Level IIIb neonatal intensive care. NICUs are located at both birth center locations.
