City Council Passes MHS Resolution
April 12, 2011 - Changing Memorial from a city enterprise into a community-based nonprofit received a big nod from the Colorado Springs City Council today, which voted 5-2 on a resolution of support for the idea.
The resolution urges the new Council to put the idea on the November ballot, and it approves the roughly 100-page agreement that dictates the terms of such a change, should it be approved by voters.
The vote came after much discussion among council members. Jan Martin, who was recently re-elected to City Council and has served on the mayor’s task force that worked on defining the specific terms of such a conversion, said she saw this proposal as a way to create more jobs and improve health care for the community. |
