Memorial Star Transport

Memorial Star Transport Helicopter in flight

Memorial Health System Star Transport, southern Colorado’s most comprehensive and specialized provider of critical care transport services for patients of all ages, is accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS).

In addition to using best practices for air medicine, CAMTS found Memorial Star Transport to be exceptional in several areas:

  • Medical direction and involvement representing all specialty areas
  • Collaboration
  • Level of training and specialization
  • Safety management
  • Passion

Memorial Star Transport cares for and transports more than 700 patients per year using a dedicated critical care ambulance, plane and helicopter. These patients include high-risk expectant moms, newborns, children and adults. Memorial Star Transport is the only critical care transport service in southern Colorado that offers the additional expertise, equipment and processes to care for pre-term infants, as well as other patients who are critically ill and injured.

Memorial Health System established its transport service program more than 20 years ago with critical care ground and fixed-wing (plane) transportation for critically ill or injured expectant moms, neonates and children. In 2005, Memorial contracted with Med Trans Corporation for a dedicated helicopter to expand air transport capabilities.

We save precious minutes to save precious lives. Our around-the-clock service provides the highest level of care in southern Colorado for adults, at-risk expectant mothers, babies and children en route to Memorial Hospital Central.

Memorial Star (program) is a "DBA" for Med-Trans Corporation (Med-Trans), an FAA Part 135 certificate holder and operator. Accordingly, all transportation by rotorwing that is done by this program is, in fact, done by Med-Trans. All fixed wing transportation is done by Air Ambulance Specialists, Inc. All rotorwing aircraft and flights are under the operational control of Med-Trans, and all operations by this program are conducted for ensuring this program's rotorwing aircraft(s) are airworthy and are in compliance with its FAA-approved inspection/maintenance program. Med-Trans has specified the conditions under which flight may be operated. All rotorwing flight crewmembers at this program that are assigned to a flight by Med-Trans are qualified and have been trained under Med-Trans' approved training program.
